CHILEAN FOLK MUSIC
In the seventh year of uninterrupted cultural activity of the Municipal Theater of San Felipe, the Guitar and Piano Duet, presented on Wednesday 27th September, 2006, a program with works of the Chilean folkloric-traditional repertoire.
They had already had the opportunity to perform two concerts during season 2004: one with music of Boccherini, Castelnuovo-Tedesco, the French jazzman Claude Bolling and Astor Piazzolla, and a second concert on occasion of the centenary of the birth of our Nobel Prize, Pablo Neruda; on that occasion they also performed music of Chilean folklore.
Francisco Alarcón, director of the Municipal Theater, maintains a weekly constant programming of cultural activities, where he gives opportunity to different artistic expressions, like the theater, dance, cinema, literature, jazz, folklore, chamber music, and others.
The program of that last Wednesday, included adaptations of traditional works of Chilean folklore and the Duet’s own creations of traditional Chilean Music. They played rhythms, melodies and musical forms of northern, central and southern Chile.
